What to bring on your first visit

Bring:

  • Vaccination card, or a clear photo of it on your phone
  • Most recent vet visit summary, if you have one
  • Any post-surgery clearance letter from the operating surgeon
  • A few small treats your dog responds to. We use them during the initial gait assessment.

A harness is preferable to a collar for hydro sessions. We have spares if you forget.

What happens on a first visit

LengthAbout 35 to 55 minutes, gentle pace.
The conversationWe start with a quiet sit-down. You walk us through your dog’s story, what changed, what your vet said, what worries you most. We ask, we listen, we take notes.
Movement checkThe therapist then watches your dog walk and stand. It looks casual, but each step gives information about how weight is loading through each limb. This is where we map out the plan, deciding which modalities will help, how often you should come in, and whether we need to coordinate with your vet first.
Assessment onlyThe first visit is for assessment, not treatment. No therapy is performed on this day. Once the plan is set, we book your treatment sessions for separate days, so each one stays dedicated to the work itself.

Accessibility

Wheelchair access via the main entrance. The treatment room is on a single ground level. Please tell us in advance if you need any accommodation. We will set up the room so visit day is smooth.

For referring vets

We work alongside your veterinary practice, not in place of it. If you would like to refer a patient for hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, laser, massage, or pain management, please send the case summary and any imaging to woof@auraanimalrehab.com.

We acknowledge within one working day, schedule the assessment with the owner, and return a structured report after each block of sessions covering water level, belt speed, gait observations, and progress markers.

We welcome referring vets and clinic staff for an in-person tour of the facility. Reach out via WhatsApp to arrange a time that works for your schedule.
